CROCHET FRIDAY AT THE LIBRARY

Hello ,
well its been a while since I posted but I have been keeping right up on news from all of my favourite blogs. Some lovely crochet bunting by Thesummerhouseby the sea blogg. Also my favourite ladybird diaries always gives some lovely eye candy for beautiful crochet makes. I am also now following a few new bloggs as well which when I find out successfully how to link I shall send you to look.
For my part for most of January I was virus laden and not the way to start the year but predictable really. I work with three different vulnerable groups of people so its not surprising when I pick up these viruses.

Now spring is on the way I am busy making some lovely bunting (crochet ) of course which now I have mastered the pattern is really easy and they are flying off the hook in a range of pastel hues from my stash. I havent any pictures as yet but I will show you some others . Happy weekend

Norfolk at christmas

Hi ,
I am just back blogging , I have kept up with all my favourite bloggs but didnt feel I had the time to write one myself.
Today has been a typical november day here in Norfolk. Grey and coldish but not overly. Our weekend off , yippee and I wanted it to be relaxed so we could unwind and enjoy it. Our good friends asked us if we would go to the largest christmas market outside Germany which is being held in Birmingham today. However I just didn't really fancy the idea of being up early and driving for two hours just to go to some christmas event. I am glad I didn't as today has been perfect chilled out and relaxed. Myself and hubby set out midmorning for the small town of Holt. we stopped on the way in the village of North Elmham where they had a local christmas sale and I got a few pressies . Lovely handiwork by some crafters and I really do not know how they have the time to do it all. Here's a lovely jar of homemade mincemeat I picked up for two pounds.

We shall use this on xmas eve to bake mince pies . Um lovely!
We then travelled onto Holt which is a small but lovely town in North Norfolk full of interesting little individual shops selling their wares and its the ideal place to browse all those lovely christmassy goodies. Myself and Mr. M stopped by in Byfords the local coffee shop for a kind of brunch. Byfords is a grade two listed building believed to be the oldest building in Holt. Anyhow it retains much of its charm and character and is always very busy with the hustle and bustle of North Norfolk life.
I didnt really buy that much in Holt I was just going for a peruse around. I have made most of my christmas presents so do not have to buy that much. I am more interested in the true meaning of christmas and not all the hurdy gerdy of modern life and I definately do not want to wrap somebody up a box of pretty chemicals from some chain store its not my kind of thing at all. If I couldnt make presents then I would   go to buy from local hand made crafters which I also do as well as I like to support anything local.
I did manage a few charity buys though which I thought were rather sweet and cost just a little not bad this sweet little christmas plate for three pounds.

and this sweet little ornament that could be filled with sweets

Whilst all this  present buying and making has been going on we as a family have not forgotten about others. I post this merely because I would like to encourage my fellow planetarians to follow for the little ones everywhere that are not so fortunate to have the gift of a prosperous life. My daughter E and myself made up these boxes to be sent to Romania and I am really hoping the children have some fun with them

They were sent last week and we do this via our local church and Operation Christmas Child. For anyone that wants to do one there is still time. You can go onto Operation Christmas Childs website and send one via them and even track the progress of your box, what a cool idea and for those that are to busy to make one up themselves this is ideal. You can also upload a picture to send with the box.
That's about what we have been up to so far this weekend but I will leave with a picture of two scarves I have made. They were really quick makes. I made them with stylecraft chunky in a mustard and pink shade. they are for my brother and sisterinlaw as they go up to their allotment a lot so hopefully they will keep them warm. I have enough wool over to make wristwarmers and maybe a hat.
the stitch was basically single crochet one chain single crochet into the same stitch . Miss two chain on the first row. I think it might be a v stitch but am not sure because I make everything up as I go and it was only because somebody at knitting yesterday said it was. Here they are

Really not the best of photos but I will try to do better next time. Until then byeee from Norfolk
